Lymington, from across the river - c1867 map

Published in Harper's New Monthly Magazine in August 1869, illustrating an article by M. D. Conway on 'South Coast Saunterings in England'. The Isle of Wight paddle steamer waits at the pier and the railway station buildings on the right accommodate carriages. Conway came to Lymington in September 1867, researching this article, and visited Allingham just before Rossetti came.
